#JKDoesntSpeakForMe trends WORLDWIDE after Rowling claims ‘innumerable’ gay people are anti-trans like her
Wow. Once again JK Rowling has been tweeting misinformation about trans people and this time has even tried to claim that gay people are on her side. The internet disagreed.
This all started as Kier Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party, said in an interview this weekend: “A woman is a female adult, and in addition to that trans women are women, and that is not just my view, that is actually the law. It has been the law through the combined effects of the 2004 [Gender Recognition] Act and the 2010 [Equality] Act.” and JK Rowling unsurprisingly did not agree.
Seeming to know more about the law than Starmer (formerly the director of public prosecutions, the most senior prosecutor in England and Wales), Rowling jumped on her one woman anti-trans bandwagon that is her Twitter account to claim that ‘innumerable gay people’ had written to her saying they felt ‘under attack” as well as saying: “Like women, they – especially lesbians – are under attack for not wishing to be redefined and for refusing to use ideological language they find offensive.”
The Twitterverse however did NOT agree with her and, as per usual with her anti-trans rhetoric, it blew up. The gall to say ‘innumerable gay people’ particularly stuck in the craw as a phrase akin to ‘all of my friends are gay’. No shit JK, the gay people who said that to you are bound to agree, but they are in the minority. almost immediately the hashtag ‘JK doesn’t speak for me’ started to trend and has continued to do so up until the time of writing.
Take our names right out of your mouth JK Rowling. You have consigned yourself to the wrong side of history and it will not be forgotten in a hurry.
Innumerable gay people have been in touch with me to say exactly this. Like women, they – especially lesbians – are under attack for not wishing to be redefined and for refusing to use ideological language they find offensive. https://t.co/kT2J8UtDHU

Gay, lesbian and bi people aren't the only ones using the #JKDoesntSpeakForMe hashtag.

JK Rowling self-identifies as a feminist, and has frequently excused her transphobia as being about "women's rights".
According to UK surveys, the majority of women disagree.#JKRvsLGBTQ pic.twitter.com/AZvwKdP8ge
I’m a cis gay man. I am not amongst the (quote) ‘innumerable gay people’. Neither are any of the LGB people I know… or work with… or write with…

I have received homophobic abuse at many different points in my life and I see transphobia as no different. #JKDoesntSpeakForMe
I'm a cis bi middle-aged woman. I'm a survivor of rape, sexual abuse, and domestic abuse. I have cPTSD. I am not defined by these things, nor am I defined by biology.

Trans and non-binary people are not a threat to me, or my feminism.#JKDoesntSpeakForMe
When JK Rowling claims that "lesbians are under attack and don't want to be redefined," she's specifically saying that lesbians dating trans women aren't lesbians.

This is the TERF position. That your chromosomes, not your attraction, define your sexuality.
