Not queer enough! Piers Morgan mocks Demi Lovato while Anna Paquin gets trolled

How queer is queer enough? If you’re a bisexual man and you’re with a woman or vice versa, is that queer enough? Apparently not, as Anna Paquin found that out this week as she addressed followers who criticised her for being married to a man (!).

‘I’m a #proudbisexual who is married to a wonderful human who happens to be a man,’ Paquin wrote in a social media post,’If he doesn’t have a problem with it, why should anyone else?’ Well said. There is far too much disparagement of bisexuality within the LGBTQ+ community, even though it’s the third letter in the goddamn initials.

If someone identifies as bisexual, non-binary or trans, or pan or anything at all we use their chosen pronouns out of respect – we don’t ask for proof of who they sleep with, a birth certificate or a scan of their brain. If you’re HILARIOUS like Piers Morgan though, you make digs at people you don’t even know about their gender identity.

In reference to Demi Lovato coming out as non-binary, Morgan wrote ‘Some personal news: I am proud to let you know that I identify as an annoying attention-seeking celebrity. This has come after a lot of self-reflective work but it’s my truth & lived experience.’ Isn’t he a HOOT?

Why people feel the need to question or ridicule people after everyone is encouraged to be brave enough to live their truths is beyond us. Is gay or lesbian queer enough thank you very much and going outside those boundaries is either too queer or not queer enough? Just goes to show once again how much work there still is to be done.
