Icon Tina Turner Says Goodbye to Fans in New Documentary as She Battles Multiple Illnesses
Tina Turner, 81, gives her ‘final interview’ in new HBO documentary, before retiring from the spotlight as she battles PTSD after stroke, cancer and kidney failure. The new doc gives a rare insight into her difficult past, iconic career and current health struggles.
Tina Turner is an icon. Not just a gay icon – a literal universal one – but the path to mega-stardom has been paved with turbulence and trauma.
Looking back, Tina reflects: “It wasn’t a good life. The good did not balance the bad.
“I had an abusive life, there’s no other way to tell the story. It’s a reality. It’s a truth. That’s what you’ve got, so you have to accept it.
The details of Tina’s life have been publicly documented before, first in her 1986 autobiography, ‘I, Tina’, then in the popular 1993 biopic ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It?’
But Tina has always been hesitant to discuss them on camera… until now.
