Oprah silence as Meghan and Harry ‘secret wedding’ claims crumble

One of the most watched and discussed interview ‘events’ of recent years is over two weeks old and people are STILL unpacking… and unpicking Meghan and Harry’s claims.

Oprah’s bestie Gayle King revealed last week that she had spoken to the couple and they had said that a phone conversation Harry had had with his brother Prince William had been ‘unproductive’. In light of this, people started to wonder why they were using showbiz mouthpieces to continue the story when the Queen had taken steps to deal with the fallout already. These things don’t happen overnight, especially when you’re 94.

Whilst no-one refutes (ok some people, we’re looking at you Piers Morgan) Meghan’s very serious comments regarding her mental health and race insensitivities at the Palace, viewers have been left perplexed as to why she would say they got married 3 days before the official date when it turns out they hadn’t.

According to official documents their marriage took place at St George’s chapel as previously reported and watched by millions. Stephen Borton, the former chief clerk at the Faculty Office who drew up the license said ‘I’m sorry, but Meghan is obviously confused and clearly misinformed. They did not marry three days earlier in front of the Archbishop of Canterbury.’

Oprah has come under criticism for saying that she watched the notoriously fact light The Crown as research for the interview and for getting facts wrong when it came to hereditary titles as well as not pushing back on certain areas of questioning.

So far there has been silence from Winfrey as these awkward facts emerge and a spokesperson for the couple has since admitted that it wasn’t a secret wedding and just an exchange of vows.

Maybe it’s time we all got back to watching The Crown again, it’s a lot more entertaining that this big ol’ oogie mess.
