People living with HIV in the UK can now get the Covid vaccine without disclosing their status
If you are HIV positive you are classed as in the vulnerable bracket so therefore eligible to have a Covid vaccine even before the over sixty. Great news but until now there was an element that made this trickier than it should have been .
Despite the incredible advances in HIV treatment, there still exists a stigma that makes some people feel uncomfortable about revealing their status, something people would have had to do to receive their vaccine at their local GPs.
Now, however, after a successful campaign, NHS England has said that people living with HIV who do not want to disclose their status to their GP can now receive the vaccine through alternative means, either by a referral or at a specialist clinic.
