Ariana Grande donates $1.5m to protect trans youth and reacts to Grammys drag honour
It’s awards overload right now and last weekend was no different with the Grammys 2022. One star who wasn’t there was Ariana Grande, or was she? No she wasn’t, that was RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni Trinity K. Bonet serving her very best Grande.
Trinity spoke of her intention on Instagram before the show stating: “We’ll be wearing some of the most iconic looks that were on the Grammys red carpet. You can only imagine who I’m doing. I try to think outside of the box. So, it’s probably not somebody that you know.”
This certainly didn’t go unnoticed by Grande herself who said underneath Trinity’s post:”Oh my goodness. Honored. You are perfect.”
All this comes in a week then the singer pledged to meet up to $1.5milli0n in donations to protect trans youth all across the country at a time when their rights and very existence are being eroded and used in political battle.
Writing on her Instagram page, Grande said: “Right now there are hundreds of disgraceful bills pending in state legislature that target trans youth and aim to curb their rights. This will provide critical funds to organizations advocating for the rights of trans youth. Please share & swipe to find out more about where exactly our money is going!!!”
Ariana is a longterm ally of the LGBTQ+ community and sees first hand the damage that these bills are doing to the lives of queer youth. She herself was nominate for three Grammys this year which she spoke about in the Instagram post below.
