Jess Glynne apologises again… this time for a T-slur

Oh Jess Glynne. It doesn’t seem like that long ago she had to apologise for ranting that she was being discriminated against when she wore a tracksuit and hoodie to a restaurant with a strict dress code and was’t let in last June.

After she tried to use her fully paid up membership of the ‘Don’t You Know Who I Am?’ club she was forced to eat like a normal mortal elsewhere, despite trying to shame the restaurant for not bending their rules for her as they struggled to make ends meet during a pandemic.

Now she’s back on the apology train again (perhaps she should get a season ticket). This time it’s due to a comment she made on Masked Singer judge Mo Gilligan’s podcast. Glynne was telling a ‘funny’ anecdote and used a transphobic slur, tripping off the tongue a bit too easily for some listeners with Gilligan laughing in response.

Cue apologies from her ‘I am ashamed that I was unaware of the potency of the T-slur until now’, a slating from Cher Lloyd ‘There’s absolutely no excuse for transphobic slurs’ and a statement from the organisers of London Trans Pride saying Glynne ‘still has a lot of work to do’. Ouch.

Jess already has a lifetime ban from the Isle of Wight festival for ditching a performance saying she was ill in order to go drinking with the Spice Girls.

All we can say is, don’t be so hard on yourself Jess.
