LGBTQ+ Ukrainians stand in defiance of Putin’s warmongering saying he will ‘break all his teeth’
The much-threatened invasion of Ukraine by Russia began in the early hours with tens of people dead already. Kyiv Pride remained defiant however with some harsh words for the warmonger and international criminal Vladimir Putin.
In a tweet, the LGBTQ+ Ukrainian capital’s group wrote: “Putin will break all his teeth trying to bite us. We have left far behind the past to which he seeks to draw us. We are a country that has chosen the values of human rights, humanity, life and personality. Putin lives in the past, he has a place there.”
Life is a lot more difficult for queer people in Russia and the fear is of course that Ukrainian’s civil liberties and rights would be severely limited in the event of a Russian takeover. Unfortunately things seem that they will get worse before they get better. NATO and the the EU will be taking swift steps to impose harsh sanctions but the situation is changing by the hour.
Kyiv Pride continues to stand in power, later tweeting: “We will never give up, still the victory will be ours. Keep calm, we will win together. We remain strong, we are not intimidated.” Our thoughts are with the people of the Ukraine at this terrible time.
To all our supporters in the world: Call on your governments to stand up and to take action against the war in Ukraine! We need to stop it now, we need to show how powerful we are all together, and Putin will stand no chance!
