We suspected as much but it seems JK Rowling’s Wizarding World may have lost its magic for good as the controversy heavy movie has opened to its lowest weekend takings yet at $43 million in the US.

That’s not to say that this isn’t a good haul, but for a movie that cost Warner Brother’s $200 million to make and then a shed load more in advertising and marketing, it could mean that the film might even make a LOSS for the studio giant.

It has been well documented but when the co-writer of the movie and creator of the franchise has left fans torn in recent years with Rowling showing NO sign of stopping her relentless anti-trans attacks, it makes it hard for people to want to dive back into a series that is already suffering from quality control issues and lacklustre reviews.

Add to this Depp’s removal and current ongoing court case, Ezra Miller also becoming someone what ‘problematic’ (although the temporary restraining order levelled at him has since been dropped), the ongoing pandemic, the Ukraine/Russia war and the cost of living crisis and well, you get the gist.

Many talented people will have worked hard on the movie and it is up tot he individual if they wish to boycott it for any one of the above reasons but it does stick in our craw to actively give money to someone who so blatantly has lost her mind when it comes to genuine human kindness, hanging out with the likes of the LGB Alliance on the week the movie comes out.
