Netflix hit Cecil Hotel series has us feeling major déjà vu… and now we know why
Netflix has seen its membership soar in the past year as a captive audience pores through its content with some even claimed to have ‘completed’ it.
One of the joys of the streaming platform is the shared experience, and when we can’t do it in person, chatting about the latest Netflix hit has become a global past time.
Step forward Crime Scene – The Vanishing at The Cecil Hotel. Like many shows before it, nothing brings us together like grizzly murder. The documentary series has hit the top spot in the Netflix ratings across the world with its graphic and intriguing portrayal of the facts surround the real life hotel in Los Angeles.
Fans of cult Ryan Murphy anthology series American Horror Show however, will have spotted more than a few similarities with The Cecil Hotel and the LA based Hotel Cortez featured in series five, AHS: Hotel (see what they did there?)
Murphy himself said in an interview in 2015 that he was directly inspired by the Cecil Hotel story with real life events depicted in the drama for which Lady Gaga scored a Golden Globe.
As for the long awaited tenth series of AHS, it seems amongst the returning cast was will be Lily Rabe who we last saw opposite Nicole Kidman in The Undoing and Evan Peters who you can see at the moment on WandaVision on Disney+. We’ll give you more info as and when we get it horror fans…
