Saturday Night Live stands by Ukraine with tear-jerking Cold Open
Normally we shout about SNL when they utilise their LGBTQ+ actors to write some hilarious sketches but this time things are more serious as they eschewed their usual opening sketch to showcase the Ukrainian Chorus Dumka of New York who performed Prayer for Ukraine.
It’s incredibly moving and as things move from bad to worse as Putin puts his nuclear deterrent on ‘special alert’, the threat of a wider world war edged that tiny bit closer.
As always we stand with not just the LGBTQ+ community in Ukraine, who stand to have their civil liberties much curtailed if they had to live under Russian occupation, but with the whole nation. See the choir perform below and bring a tissue.
