Enter Sha’Carri: Athlete qualifies for US Olympic team – immediately thanks her girlfriend

Remember the name Sha’Carri Richardson as you’re going to be seeing a lot more of her when the Olympics start in a few weeks time – and with her fierce flame-girl lewk, you won’t miss her.

This weekend the 21-year-old competed against six other athletes in the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Team Trials in Eugene, Oregon in the 100-metres sprint. She whizzed past the other competitors coming at just 10.86 seconds, which is a mere second behind the top time of running god Usain Bolt, who is over a foot taller than Richardson incidentally.

With her signature bright hair (which she changes on the regs) a rich flame colour for the race and nails to die for, she is every bit your atypical Olympian and we LOVE it. On qualifying for the 2021 Tokyo games, Richardson said that her orange hair symbolised ‘running on fire’ and was chosen by her girlfriend. ‘She said it spoke to her, the fact that it was just so loud and vibrant, and that’s who I am.’

We love a bit of Olympic action and to know there is more and more queer representation at the very top level of sport only fills us with more pride during this very special Pride month.
