Well this is exciting news! The Crown’s Josh O’Conner has been cast to star in director Francis Lee’s new queer-orientated horror movie.

In a profile for Esquire, Lee revealed that Josh will lead his next project, which is described as “a horror movie with strong elements of ‘class and queerness’, about a sad young man alone in an epic wilderness.” The film is said to be an adaptation of a novel, but Lee has yet to give details on exactly which novel it might be.

He had teased the movie back in 2000 during an interview about upcoming projects where he said: “My favourite genre is horror. I’ve always wanted the opportunity to make a really, really fucking scary horror film. So I’m working on that,”

Lee and O’Connor famously worked together on the critically acclaimed movie God’s Own Country, where O’Connor played a troubled farmer coming to terms with his sexuality.

So if that’s anything to go by we’re in for a TREAT (or maybe a trick, given its genre?). We’ll stick the trailer for GOC below – if you haven’t watched it you absolutely MUST.

In fact, here’s our list of quintessential queer-themed titles, all of which you need to make sure are all ticked off your movie bucket list immediately if not before!
