Marvel to introduce first trans woman character in Disney+ series Ironheart
Since Disney somewhat fumbled their response to Florida’s dreaded ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Bill, they seem to be making up for it in a variety of ways. The latest comes in the announcement of the first trans woman in the MCU.
Disney tweeted the following about the new Disney+ show Ironheart: ‘Coming soon to Disney Plus, Dominique Thorne is genius inventor Riri Williams in Ironheart, an original series about the creator of the most advanced suit of armour since Iron Man.’
It’s the casting call that got people interested, however, reading: ‘Black, Latina or Afro-Latina transgender woman who is around 18-22 years old’ who would portray a new character in the series which sees Thorne take on the Iron Man mantle.
Dominique will make her debut in the second Black Panther movie Wakanda Forever which is out later this year. As for the new character, we shall wait and see. With Love, Victor, Better Nate Than Ever, The Eternals and Valkyrie getting a bisexual storyline in Thor: Love and Thunder it’s clear Disney and Marvel are committing to at least SOME representation.
