Back in March we revealed that movie star and comedian Billy Eichner was to write and star in the first ever major studio produced gay romantic comedy and now it seems he’s pushing those boundaries even further.

Also starring Luke MacFarlane, the movie Bros will follow the two leads as they “maybe, possibly, probably stumbling towards love. Maybe. They’re both very busy”.

In another bold move, Eichner has decided that even the main heterosexual roles will be played by LGBTQ+ actors, turning the recent conversation about straight actors playing gay for plum movie roles right on its head.

Eichner, also the star of Billy On The Street, said: “After queer actors have spent decades watching straight actors capitalise both artistically and professionally by playing LGBTQ+ characters, it is a long overdue dream come true to be able to assemble this remarkable, hilarious cast.”

Confirming exactly why it was he made these casting decisions, he added “while Bros maybe the first of its kind in several ways, it is only the first of many opportunities for openly LGBTQ+ ensembles to shine and show the world all we are capable of as actors.”
