Caitlyn Jenner – who plans to run for Governor this year – didn’t vote last year and here’s why (brace yourself)
You know when there’s something really important you need to do but also, like, it’s a nice day outside and the sun is shining, and you feel a bit more like…
Last month Caitlyn Jenner announced her intentions to run for governor of California.
It was met with a mixed response from the community: on the one hand a trans governor would be awesome. On the other, she’s historically been very outspoken supporting some far-right values (she was a Trump supporter ffs) and pissed a lot of people off by making commentary on certain issues which directly conflict with trans and queer values, such as the inclusion of trans kids in sports.
To be honest, we’ve just never really understood the contradiction but whatever.
Anyway, in what can only be described as a gargantuan fucki*g PR disaster of Kanye-style proportions, Caitlyn Jenner (who, again, JUST announced her intentions to run for governor) has admitted in an interview that she didn’t vote last year because she decided instead to…
I’m just going to say what we’re all thinking and that is: where the shit is Kris Jenner and her public relations wizardry to sort this one out??
Speaking to CNN, Jenner – a staunch Trump supporter – said she didn’t bother to vote for him in 2020 because she “couldn’t get excited about it“.
“I didn’t even vote. Out here in California, it’s like, why vote for a Republican president? It’s just not gonna work. I mean, it’s overwhelming,” Jenner, 71, said.
She continued: “It was voting day and I thought, ‘The only thing out here in California that I worry about, which affects people, is the propositions that were out there,’ and I didn’t see any propositions that I really had one side or the other. And so, it was Election Day and I just couldn’t get excited about it. I just wanted to play golf so I said, ‘I’m not doing that.’ “
When prompted as to why – if she herself could display such political apathy – people should abandon their own relaxing recreational activities and make their way to the polls for her, she jokingly responded “Cause I’m cute and adorable.“
So, that’s that.
Whether this will impact CJ’s shot (do you call it a shot in golf?) at governorship remains to be seen, but it’s definitely not a hole-in-one in terms of perfect campaigning.
