Orban later said: “If you are not married yet, you should immediately find a Hungarian wife” and later read from the country’s 2011 updated constitution, saying: “The mother is a woman, the father is a man, and leave our kids alone. Full stop. End of discussion.”
Dystopia looms as far-right Hungarian PM spouts anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric at CPAC to rapturous applause
This year’s conservative Republican conference CPAC has gone further down the path of no return hosting the homophobic PM of Hungary, Viktor Orban, who read from the the Hungarian constitution saying that marriage was between a man and a woman… and the audience lapped it up.
Orban is an incredibly divisive political figure on the world stage, having been the pseudo-architect of Hungary’s brutal clampdown on LGBTQ+ citizens meaning gay people cannot now adopt children which it’s ostensibly all about the whole ‘protect out children’ nonsense that is in fact just a cover for being MORE anti-queer.
Amongst a cornucopia of far-right rhetoric, Orban said: “The West is at war with itself. The globalist can all go to hell. I have come to Texas.” When addressing his recent comments that Hungary doesn’t want to be a mixed race country (clearly invoking wild Nazi tropes), he said: “Don’t worry, a Christian politician cannot be racist.” His original remarks were deemed so extreme it prompted one of his top advisors to quit.
Ah the kids, thank goodness these people have their backs. At CPAC this year it’s a rogue’s gallery of your usual toxic politicians like Greg Abbott, Sarah Palin and former moron-in-chief, Donal Trump. It’s just another rung on the downward facing ladder that the Republicans have chosen to descend, striking fear into the hearts of ordinary Americans that just want people to live and let live.
