Bridgerton Hunk René-Jean Page Joins the New Bond Longlist
Netflix series Bridgerton has become a huge hit for the streaming service, remaining at number one in their chart for weeks on end. Of all the hot totty on display, British/Zimbabwean René-Jean Page has turned everyone’s head as fictional fitty, Simon Basset, Duke Of Hastings. We’re pretty sure he’s not the heir to the liquorice empire but he’s certainly sweet and chewy.
It seems that his newfound popularity (Bridgerton is his first starring role after bit parts in the likes of Waterloo Rd) has brought him to the attention of none other than the executive producers of the James Bond movies. Queen bee at 007 central is the very healthy (we assume) Barbara Broccoli and after Daniel Craig’s last turn as James, in the much delayed No Time To Die, the part is up for grabs.
René-Jean certainly has the looks and with his mysterious still-waters-run-deep performance, he certainly has the suave acting chops for Bond. At 32 he has the right age to stay in the part for as long as he likes and it will make him a household name, not only as one of only a very small band of legends to play James Bond, but as the first person of colour in the role. What does he say on the matter? ‘Regency, royalty shaken and stirred’ he wrote on his Instagram. The betting starts now.
