RuPaul’s Drag Race season 14 launches but no longer on Netflix in the UK
RuPaul’s Drag Race season 14 kicks off on January 8 on VH1 in the USA but there has been something of a controversy as it has been dropped from Netflix in the UK and is only going to be available on streaming service WOW Presents Plus.
By comparison, Drag Race UK and Canada’s Drag Race are shown on BBC iPlayer so fans were a little disappointed to say the least that they were only going to be able to see the mainline show by paying for yet ANOTHER streaming service.
Of course if you’re a Drag Race fan (which people watching the show presumably are) there is a wealth of content on there with spin offs galore and ALL the Drag Race’s from around the world present and correct. The only problem is if you were a casual watcher you might just give up.
Time will tell with online engagement and new subscriptions but fans in the UK seem genuinely peeved that they are being squeezed for more dosh with Twitter comments like ‘Does RuPaul actually need any more money man?’ peppering social media and downright refusals to pay out more for a show they have been loyal to for years.
For those who don’t want to splash out, it might come on another platform later but in the meantime you can listen to the UK’s premier Drag Race podcast United Queendom every week for season 14 recaps!
See below for a sneak preview of the first episode.
To any drag race fans out there just a wee reminder that this next season of US drag race is only going on WOW presents (which you have to pay a subscription for) NOT netflix🥲 Does rupaul actually need any more money man?!— REBECCA LAFFERTY (@BexLafferty) January 6, 2022
