Elliot Page discusses being ‘fully who I am’ as a transgender man in TIME cover story
Actor Elliot Page has opened up about his life and transition in a the new issue of TIME Magazine.
Page came out as transgender last year and in his first cover shoot he speaks candidly about his past and his future. He talks about wanting to be a boy from age 9 but then landing his first acting job at 10, describing how he had to make ‘a difficult compromise’.
When international success came knocking, Elliot says he couldn’t bear to even look at pictures of himself on the red carpet or wear clothes that were tailored for a girl as they would ‘make me so unwell.’
Page refers to himself as a transgender man repeatedly in the interview and is currently filming the third series of the Netflix series Umbrella Academy.
Rumours are that his character of Vanya Hargreeves will gradually come out as trans in the series as well, showing just how far we’ve come in terms of representation in mainstream entertainment.
