Glue Music – UK Artists Top Growing Listenership Figures But Swifty Heads Back To The Album Top Spot

While it cannot be a complete surprise what with a captive audience during a pandemic but music listenership rose by 8.2% in 2020. The British Phonographic Institute just released these mind-blowing figures which is the equivalent to 139 billion audio streams with nearly 200 artists having their songs listened to over 100 million times.

This of course comes at huge expense to the live sector which has was all but halted completely in 2020 due to the pandemic. Despite this, its has been a hugely creative time for UK artists with Lewis Capaldi, Dua Lipa and Harry Styles topping the most streamed lists.

Never one to be outdone however, it looks like Taylor Swift will swoop back to number one in the UK album charts this week with her surprise lockdown album ‘Evermore’ which came out to glowing reviews back in December.
