Outrage as trans-exclusionary ‘hate group’ LGB Alliance are permitted stand at UK government conference

A row has erupted over the decision to allow trans-exclusionary group the LGB Alliance to have a stand at the Conservative Party conference next week.

This comes at a time when the UK’s government could use some good LGBT+ press following them dragging their feet on the ban on conversion therapy that was promised by Theresa May back in 2019. It’s OK though, cos Boris Johnson’s wife Carrie Johnson is going to talk at the conference about the importance of LGBTQ+ rights.

While this is a great gesture, mere feet away the abhorrent LGB Alliance will be peddling their nonsense at a stand they paid £6k for which will be situated slap bang next to the LGBT+ Conservatives stand. Great! We hope they don’t mind getting a hearty booing like the man who turned up at Manchester Pride with an LGB Alliance t-shirt on received.

Some members of the Conservative Party have expressed disdain at the decision to let them participate with one peer branding it a ‘terrible misstep’ and another saying that the news made her ‘feel sick’. Us too, hun!

The former Head of Women at LGBT+ Conservatives, Jessica Zbinden-Webster said: “It is disappointing to learn that the LGB Alliance has been offered a prominent stand at the 2021 Conservative Party Conference. In my view – a view many other cisgender women share – there is no LGB without the T. LGBT+ Conservatives stands in solidarity with trans women and men, as well as our non-binary community. It is of the utmost importance that members feel safe, whatever their gender presentation.”

It is important to also note that the Labour Party told the LGB Alliance that they would NOT be welcome at their conference which was held this week in Brighton.

The news comes just after an LGBTQ+ hate report called out the UK – along with Russia, Poland and Hungary – due to widespread transphobia.

Comedian and presenter Matt Lucas had the topic trending on Twitter just yesterday after calling out the LGB Alliance for being an ‘anti-trans hate group’.

There is NO LGB alliance without the T.
